I'm writing my unlucky 13th blog to close out an AMAZING month in my life. January 2013 has been great because it has made me stronger in my faith and I am looking to the most fit as I've ever been. I signed up for my first 10k and first Triathlon.
If you are reading this, I thank you. You have helped me just by "listening."
Pain. What is Pain? Accoding to dictionary.com; physical suffering or distress, as due to injury, illness, etc
Sooo, I agree. Pain is not good. But what if you take the pain and suffering and offer it to God? That is what my faith is about and what my whole life has been about up to this point. God tells us not to fear anything but Him. But my God is good.
"Pain is weakness leaving the body" and "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" are great quotes that I tell myself often.
I need to tell myself that often because I love pain. I didn't play rugby in college for nothing. I played because it hurt So Good. It hurt so good to know that my body was becoming stronger as I played and as I practiced. Causing pain to your body is considered bad. As an athlete, I have been told "Practice makes Perfect". I truly believe in this quote as well. It's so hard to be a Christian Rugby Player. As a Christian, we are told that our bodies are God's body and we should not hurt our bodies. We should treat them as a temple. So, as a Christian Athlete, it is necessary to push your body to the limit. For me, Rugby has been the only sport that has allowed me to do that. I find other sports easy and not as much fun (Except Kickball). Rugby changes you. You learn so much as you play with and for your teammates, train HARD with your teammates then celebrate with the other team win or lose. No other sport in the world is the same. I do want to say, though, that there is goodness in all sports. I am an athlete and all I want to do in the world is play sports. Any sport! :)
So, as a Christian Athlete I'd like to tell you to offer your physical, mental and emotional pain to God. He will make you stronger and convert your pain to good. God is good and God is in everything, even pain.
I hope you've enjoyed this blog as I turned something negative in our lives into a positive. That is what God does. I am barely growing in my faith as I was not "raised in the Church". If anything that I have said contradicts your beliefs, please let me know how. I love debate and I love talking and hugging it out... :) FOL! <3
